Canola oil reduces abdominal fat

People who consume canola oil, as part of a healthy diet against cardiovascular diseases, have a greater reduction in their Abdominal fat and the risk of suffering metabolic syndrome , according to a study of the Universities of Manitoba, Lavat and Toronto, in Canada, and of the University of Pennsylvania, United States.

Presented before the American Heart Association , the results of the study showed that those people who consumed canola oil daily for four weeks, reduced the Abdominal fat at 1.6 percent, than people who consumed other vegetable oils.

Applied in 121 adults in the United States and Canada at risk of suffering metabolic syndrome , the study shows that by consuming certain vegetable oils you can reduce the risk, which affects 1 in 3 adults in the United States and 1 in 5 in Canada, in addition to the Abdominal fat .

The other oils that were mixtures of oils such as flax / safflower and corn / safflower did not show any change in the Abdominal fat . Both oil blends were low in monounsaturated fat.

About, Penny Kris-Etherton, professor of Nutrition at the Pennsylvania State University and one of the lead authors of the study , explains that monounsaturated fat seems to be responsible for these benefits, because "by reducing the Abdominal fat significantly reduces the risk of suffering from metabolic syndrome ”.

In addition to the benefit of regular consumption of canola oil, many of the factors that contribute to the metabolic syndrome can be contained with a healthy diet, exercise and weight loss, according to the American Heart Association.
