Tetris stimulates your brain activity

If for some time it has been proven that the use of video games can be beneficial, now it is also known that playing Tetris increases brain activity, improving the coordination of visual, tactile and auditory information, according to the study of the University of California School of Medicine .

According to the psychologist Richard Haier, from the Mind Research Network and professor at the University, playing the classic and popular game of Tetris is beneficial for our brain because it improves mental abilities, such as memory, in addition to preventing and improving the mental deterioration produced by aging.

Held for three months in a group of volunteers, the results of the research showed greater brain efficiency in areas of the brain linked to critical thinking, language processing and coordinated movement planning.

According to the specialists, the frequent practice of this video game, favored a significant increase of the gray matter, of said motor areas, in the brains of the participants in the investigation.

On the other hand, many specialists consider that more than an overwhelming game, it is very addictive, because when playing it, the brain responds by consuming more glucose; however, after several weeks, the brain becomes increasingly efficient and the player improves a lot in ability.

According to the "Tetris in Science" site (tetris, com), if played up to 6 hours after a traumatic event, it helps diminish the memories of that event associated with post-traumatic stress disorders.
