7 tips to avoid the spread of influenza

According to the General Directorate of Epidemiology (DGE), in Mexico there are four thousand 931 cases of influenza, as well as 535 deaths caused by the virus, for this reason it is very important that you know the basic recommendations to prevent the spread of influenza.

For its part, the Health Secretary considers that there are seven prevention measures to prevent the spread of the influenza virus, especially the H1N1 type:

1. Wash your hands frequently. The use of soap and water breaks the cycle of transmission of the virus. In addition, this action not only protects you from influenza, but also from other diseases.

2. If you cough or sneeze, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or the inside angle of the elbow.

3. Never spit on the ground. By doing so you leave the virus in the environment

4. Maintain the proper hygiene of your environment (home, office, meeting centers) The virus is eliminated by soap and sunlight

5. Frequently wash your clothes, since the virus can stay up to 12 hours in a garment

6. Avoid touching your face, especially nose, mouth and eyes with dirty hands

7. Stay home when you have a respiratory illness, and go to the doctor if you have a fever higher than 38 degrees Celsius, headache or throat, runny nose.

Remember that influenza is a disease of the respiratory tract caused by a very contagious virus, which can mutate and generate serious complications such as death.

However, timely treatment and vaccination help to overcome and prevent influenza, so do not hesitate, visit your doctor and avoid self-medication.
