Your body, your enemy?

Often the lack of information and time, makes us think that if we consume half of what we eat, we will lose half of what we weigh: then we make a reduction of our portions, without taking into account our general state of health and daily requirement of energy and nutrients.

In accordance with Raúl Manrique Maidana , expert in the treatment of overweight, obesity, metabolic syndrome and diabetes, if you eat half of what you normally eat, you activate the most "powerful" system that your organism has: the survival system, which gives three precise orders to our body.

1. Do not use fat. Because little food is ingested, the body seeks to maintain energy "reserve" and accumulates fat.

2. Destroy tissues that expend energy . Under this signal, the body in search of nutrients gives rise to muscle catabolism, (your body "feeds" your muscles) to avoid using fat; which causes loss of strength and tone.

3. The following meals that are ingested convert them into fat. This signal is to increase the energy reserve, in the form of fat.

Your body, your enemy?

In accordance with Manrique Maidana , eating half of what you normally eat is "putting your body against your goals". When the mechanism of survival in our body is activated, the metabolism slows down, there is a greater chance of a "rebound" effect, and each time we must eat less to maintain the desired weight.

Educators of the Columbia University They also indicate that the level of hunger we experience is fundamental for the choice of your food and the time you consume it, which is why it is important to adopt healthy habits: a balanced diet, meal times and physical activity.

Restricting a group of foods or consuming portions that are too small is not an option. Remember that the real objective of losing weight should be to maintain physical and mental health. Do not see food as an enemy!
