According to information with information from the Health Secretary (Ssa), there are 176 cases of cholera in Mexico, a disease that can cause death if not treated in time.

The federal agency detailed in a statement that so far 157 cases have been counted in Hidalgo, nine in the state of Mexico, six in Veracruz, two in the Federal District and two in San Luis Potosi. Therefore, a health alert is maintained throughout the country.

The Ssa details that one of the causes of the contagion is the presence of rains and the contamination of river water, which is used by the population for their daily activities such as personal hygiene, washing of food and clothing.

The federal agency ensures that there is adequate control in the affected states and their possible contagion is avoided.

For its part, the World Health Organization ( WHO) details that cholera is an acute diarrheal disease, which if not adequately treated, can lead to death in only a few hours.

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water, as well as use alcohol in disinfectant gel, before eating, after going to the bathroom and before preparing food.
  2. Use boiled water, disinfected with chlorine or bottled to drink and prepare food.
  3. Wash fruits and vegetables with soap and water, and use three drops of chlorine per liter of water to disinfect them.
  4. Eat well cooked or fried foods
  5. Avoid the intake of raw food on the street
  6. Add a quarter cup of chlorine to the water tank (water tanks)
  7. If you store water in buckets, add one teaspoon of chlorine per 20 liters
  8. Visit the doctor in case of diarrhea, nausea and vomiting
  9. Avoid self-medicate.
