Menarch is the medical term of the first menstruation in a woman, ie the first ovulation which biologically indicates that your body is preparing to be a mother, physical, physiological and psychological changes occur.

Average age of the Menarca

According to new research on the first menstruation, it seems that the average age at which the menarche appears, has been decreasing over the years, due largely to the increase in stimuli experienced in large cities, nutrition and genetics, mentions the gynecologist Graciela Lewitan, titular member of the Society of Child-Youth Gynecology.

There is always concern about "normality" in the age that young women present their first menstruation, but Pediatrics magazine publishes that the average age of onset of menarche varies from country to country and is often delayed in women from less developed countries.

According to the study "Comparative analysis of the average age of menarche in the Mexican population" conducted by UNAM, 12 years is the average age in Mexico City for the appearance of menarche, although the research highlights that environmental factors they are fundamental in the variability of ages.
