Mental disorders exposed in paint

In order to promote greater understanding of patients with mental illness and contribute to their reintegration through the expression of their artistic capacity, Janssen Mexico organizes the tenth edition of the painting contest: Sensitivity without limit.

The exhibition will be exhibited in the museum Memory and Tolerance from October 10 to 23. This year 120 works participated, elaborated by patients who suffer schizophrenia , Bipolar disorder or depression.

Epidemiological studies indicate that more than 28% of the population in Mexico have presented, some type of metal disorder throughout his life. In this regard, the doctor Walfred Rueda , medical manager of Janssen Mexico, affirmed that insofar as these patients are better understood, optimal care schemes can be achieved that help them to reintegrate into their social life.

About mental health

The mental disorders they represent a social and even an economic problem; Of the 10 conditions considered to be most disabling, four are neuro-psychiatric: schizophrenia , depression , compulsion obsession and disorders related to alcoholism .

On the other hand, studies indicate that people with emotional disorders they ask first for help on their social networks: 54% to relatives or friends, 10% to priests and ministers, 15% self-medicate and only consider visiting a general or specialist doctor as a second option.
