What is your type of yoga?

Yoga is much more than an exercise or a routine. People who have been practicing it for years define it as the science of lifestyle, the art of living or the science of happiness.

It is intimately related to meditation and spirituality, there are even people who say that it is the same thing, the union of body, mind and spirit.

The postures practiced in yoga are called asanas, the idea is to achieve a lifestyle that generates peace, union and inner happiness.

In Mexico, the physical practice of yoga has been strongly disseminated. It is called "Hatha Yoga" and combines postures (asanas) with breathing. From this practice, several styles are derived, such as Bikram, widely used in the West.

But besides Hatha Yoga, there are 6 other very interesting styles that we should know:

1. Mantra or nothing yoga. This is the yoga of sound and vibration. It is the oldest way to practice this art and uses the vibrations to heal and reach the universal spirit. In this practice, mantras are sung with specific intentions. Mantras are interior, powerful and healing stimuli created through sounds.

2. Karma Yoga. The yoga of action. This style consists of working in the name of the universal spirit where neither success nor failure affects. Use an introspective and conscious attitude of each cato. The goal is personal transcendence through actions.

3. Jnana Yoga. This yoga seeks the supreme form of thought. It is intellectual yoga, it is practiced studying and reading sacred texts.

4. Bhakti Yoga. In this the idea is to generate a relationship with the universal spirit. It is dedicated to loving the supreme conscience and paying tribute and homage through nature.

5. Raja Yoga. This style is dedicated to meditation. It aims to achieve the union between the body and the spirit through silence and peace.

6. Laya Yoga. It is tantric yoga, dedicated to energy. It aims to achieve the absorption of the power of the mind and the energy of the body.
