Venus Williams suffers from Sjorgren's Syndrome

The tennis player Venus Williams , 31, announced through a press release that he suffers from an autoimmune disease, called Sjogren's syndrome , a condition that damages the level of energy, causes fatigue and pain in the joints.


The winner of 7 major tennis titles, had not played since losing in the fourth round of Wimbledon in July 2011 and led the series in the United States Open for the first time since he debuted in 1997 reaching the final.


However, a few days ago he said that he was withdrawing from white sports due to health problems, since he feels tired, has various physical discomforts and needs to be at rest.

 

What is Sjorgren's syndrome?

It is an autoimmune disorder, which means that the body mistakenly attacks healthy tissue. The syndrome occurs more frequently in women aged 40 to 50 years, and is rare in children and young people.
