They will teach love classes to improve mental health

The educational authorities of Beijing are preparing a course on how to love and maintain healthy sentimental relationships, so that they are given in the universities of the Chinese capital.

According to the newspaper South China Morning Post, the Beijing Municipal Education Committee created a text on mental health for Chinese university students, which in one of its chapters includes romantic relationships.

The chapter, under the title: Happiness begins by learning how to handle romantic relationships, seeks to teach students to "understand the meaning of love and learn to express, accept, reject, maintain or let go" romances. All this, because the emotional relationships that they have in life, affect the physical and mental health of human beings.

In this subject it is foreseen that also, the university students know more about the homosexuality , a taboo subject for decades and that probably comes for the first time to Chinese classes.

However, it is the "kind of love" that has generated more comments in the Internet forums of young Chinese, where one of the prevailing ideas is that teachers are not the best counselors for these issues, but friends and classmates.

About, Kong Lingyu , a student of the Beijing Tsinghua University , in an interview for the South China Morning Post, commented:

"If the subject ends formally in class, I will feel as if a conventional point of view about student love is being imposed, there are no successes, no mistakes in love."

However, some professors cited by the same newspaper, point out that these classes will help improve decision making and emotional health of the students: "This subject could help to look for positive visions of love and learn how to handle failures in relationships, so that extreme behaviors do not occur," he said. Xia Xueluan , professor at the University of Beijing.
