Talking about yourself strengthens your self-esteem

A recent investigation published by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences , suggests that people talk about themselves during a conversation because they find it rewarding, which improves their emotional health .

According to the portal CNN.com , people spend 30 and 40% of a regular conversation to talk about themselves, while when expressed through social networks the percentage increases to 80%.

Specialists mention that talking about oneself activates neural and cognitive mechanisms associated with gratification. Being able to express emotions and transmit information strengthens your self esteem .

It is proven that humans from very young try to attract the attention of others towards aspects of their life that they think are interesting.

"The opportunity to share information about yourself activates the areas previously identified with the reward", summarized the academy. "Talking about yourself makes you feel good, we like to think about ourselves, we like to share information about ourselves."

It was also shown in this research that not sharing personal information, especially emotional information, has negative effects on the Health .
