As well as the condition in multiple organs: skin, mucous membranes, scalp, joints, kidney, lungs, brain, heart, among others. Lupus is called autoimmune, this refers to the immune system attacks the body's own cells.

Dr. Saavedra Salinas explained that the cause is unknown; However, there are some genetic, environmental and hormonal predisposing factors that can condition the appearance of this disease.

Therefore, it is important that women are under constant medical surveillance, and even more so those who had already had this disease before their pregnancy, since there is a 50% chance that they will relapse during pregnancy.

This is due to the fact that during the development of the baby, in the body of the woman, various hormonal changes occur, which makes them more vulnerable to presenting symptoms of SLE.

However, she stressed, future mothers only need to follow the basic guidelines of care indicated by the specialists so that they and their babies have a satisfactory pregnancy and birth.
