New medication vs breast cancer

Today the FDA (regulatory body for medicines in U.S ) accepted the request for authorization of biological product for pertuzumab and will evaluate it as a priority.

This medicine is a new combination of pertuzumab with herceptin (trastuzumab ) and the docetaxel chemotherapy for people with breast cancer HER2-positive metastatic inoperable, who have not received prior treatment or who have relapsed after receiving adjuvant treatment.

The investigations concluded that this new medicine improves the quality of life of the patients, since it showed an improvement of 6.1 months in the survival without progression of the disease of the people who received the regimen based on this new combination in comparison with those treated only with Herceptin and chemotherapy .

The breast cancer It is the most frequent malignant tumor in women throughout the world. Approximately 1.4 million new cases of breast cancer and more than 450,000 women die from this disease.
