Bed bugs resist pesticides

A group of entomologists from the University of Ohio concluded that the Bedbugs bedding genes what makes them resistant to pesticides, the study was published in the journal PLoS ONE digital.

Scientists discovered that resistance to pesticides can be attributed to a combination of changes in genetic makeup, mutations of the insect and adjustments in the expression of the gene. The study focused on the role of detoxifying enzymes and antioxidants that help insects eliminate toxic substances (such as insecticides ) of your body to survive, this represents a mechanism still little known.

"Knowing exactly these defense mechanisms and associated genes can lead to the development of new control methods that are more effective," said one of the authors of the study. Omprakash Mittapalli .
