The influenza seasonal is a disease which affects the respiratory system and it is generated by infectious, mechanical-obstructive and allergic processes; It occurs with greater intensity in the months of October to May. According to National Center for Epidemiological Surveillance and Disease Control (CENAVECE) when it occurs in children, older adults and people with a chronic problem, can generate complications such as pneumonia , asthma or sinusitis .
As a preventive measure and with the aim of guaranteeing the health of the population, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) carries out a campaign of vaccination against this condition.
In this regard, the general holder of the IMSS, Daniel Karam Toumeh , invites the population to approach their nearest medical units, so that they get vaccinated and stay healthy in this cold season.
The official explained that "the vaccine against virus of the influenza has been shown to be effective in reducing hospitalizations and mortality due to disease ”.
The 20 million doses will be applied to all children between six months and five years of age, as well as all adults over 60 years of age.
For his part, the general director of National Institute of Respiratory Diseases , José Rogelio Pérez Padilla , stressed that the vaccination is the main prevention of influenza and that prevention is the most efficient way to treat or cope with a condition.
The most common symptoms of this acute, highly contagious viral disease are: fever , headache , intense muscle pain, fatigue intense, cough dry, burning or sore throat and nasal congestion.
