Medicated children have problems in tooth enamel

It has been seen that children who receive medication habitual during the first years of life have more than double (2.19 times) risk of suffering defects in the toothpaste.

This is confirmed by an investigation carried out, to 1,414 children aged 3 to 12 years, by the University of Granada. Where 60.3% who participated, had been medicated as usual and had defects in the development of enamel.

At a clinical level, these defects cause sensitivity and pain in the affected teeth, dental caries, dental fractures and lack of space for the eruption of permanent teeth. Although the effect of the medications is not entirely clear, it is a pathology whose prevalence is growing at world level , currently acquiring important clinical and public health significance.

 

Other factors that can affect the enamel:

  1. Socio-economic level: those minors with a low socio-economic level have 1.64 times more chances of suffering shortcomings of this evil , than those with a high socio-economic level.
  2. Age: As the age of schoolchildren increases, elevates the presence of defects (46.8% at 3 years and 56.6% at 8 years).
  3. Consumption of bottled water: during childhood prevent the appearance of defects in the development dental and alterations in the mineralization of hard dental tissues during the period of tooth formation.

Do not forget that the care of the denture It must start from small, regardless of whether it is the first denture or the permanent one. Wash them teeth two to three times a day and go to the dentist once a year for a deeper cleaning.
