Feces of dogs and cats sick the DF

Daily, cultivation broths are created in the pathogenic microorganisms due to lack of collection and final disposal of stool of dogs and cats in Mexico City.

In the Federal District there are 3 million dogs of which only 30% are stray. If we count that a dog produces 250 grams of stool daily; Then, around 750 tons of excreta are generated daily in the city. Unfortunately, most do not end up in the containers for this waste (either in the organic waste or in those specific boats that are found in some parks), but it stays in the street, contaminating the air we breathe.

There are several diseases that can be transmitted by pets, dogs and street cats. This large amount of zoonoses (diseases that man suffers from being in contact with animals) can affect the skin, digestive system, cause respiratory problems, allergies, and can affect organs such as the heart, liver, and others. These diseases are divided into four groups:

  1. Bacteria: lyme disease, salmonellosis, brucellosis, tuberculosis, leptospiros, cholera, shigellosis.
  2. Parasitic : demodectic mange, diplidiasis, babesiosis, ascaridosis, filariasis, hydatidosis, leishmaniasis, toxoplasmosis, hepatic amoebiasis.
  3. Viral: rabies, hantavirosis, viral hepatitis, pneumotitis.
  4. Fungic: dermatophytosis.

Because of this, it is necessary to raise the social conscience As for collecting feces from pets, remember that there are laws (Civic Culture Law Y the Animal Protection Law of the DF) that penalize this behavior with fines ranging from 11 to 20 days of minimum wage (600 and thousand 90 pesos) or with a penalty of arrest from 13 to 24 hours.

If you have mascots You have to be responsible by collecting the stool defecating on public roads, keeping up to date vaccination schedules preventive and deworm them .
