Intolerance to gluten and foods with fiber

The Celiac Disease , commonly known as "Gluten intolerance "It is a condition that in recent years has become more important, despite being considered as an unusual condition, one in 266 people in the world suffer from it, the levels of presence are increasing more and more.

In 2006 a study in Mexico concluded, making a prevalence analysis, that the Celiac Disease can affect a million and a half inhabitants, whose treatment lies mainly in the elimination of gluten of their lifelong diets.

The exclusion includes wheat, barley, rye and other products such as bread, pasta, biscuits or confectionery products, so it will be vital to read labels of the products since some foods such as sauces, condiments, sausages also contain them.

However, fiber consumption continues to be especially important for people with Celiac Disease , so when talking about some source of this, we can recommend:

1. Vegetables : nopales, mushrooms, spinach, broccoli and celery are examples of vegetables with higher fiber content.
2. Fruits : raspberry, strawberry, apple and guava among others are fruits with higher fiber intake.
3. Whole grain cereals such as rice or corn and
4. Legumes such as beans, chickpeas, lentils and beans among others.

Some recommendations for vegetables and fruits to retain the fiber they contain and obtain their benefits are:

1. Consume them in shell, as much as possible.
2. Prefer to eat whole fruits or pieces instead of juices since usually when preparing a fruit juice and strain it will be eliminating part of the fiber.
3. Consume vegetables in their raw or undercooked form, the more crispy a vegetable is, the more fiber it will contain.

Fiber is essential for digestive health and there are always alternatives to cover the necessary daily recommendation, whether in case of Celiac Disease or by intolerance to some other food.
