Improve your quality of life by practicing yoga

Practicing yoga regularly can help if your heart rate is irregular, because this exercise can reduce uncomfortable episodes considerably.

This is what a study done by Dhanunjaya Lakkireddy , associate professor of medicine at the University of Kansas Hospital; presented during a cardiology conference in New Orleans.

"It seems that yoga has a significant effect in helping to regulate patients' heartbeat and improve the quality of life in general, "said the aforementioned Lakkireddy , main author of the study

The study followed 49 patients suffering from atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm condition that occurs when electrical signals natural heart are triggered in a disorganized manner, causing the heart to shake .

During the first three months of the trial, patients could follow their routines of habitual exercises. In the following three months, patients attended three sessions of yoga per week with a certified instructor , and they were encouraged to practice it in their houses with an instructional DVD.

Yoga significantly reduced irregular heart rhythm episodes to about half on average. Depression and anxiety rates also decreased, and physical function improved, general health , vitality, social functioning and mental health .
