Alert risks of smart watches for children

If your children want to ask Santa or the Magi for a smart watch, it is best to take their safety into account.

Although smart watches allow parents to geolocate their children, a study reveals that they can put the safety and privacy of infants at risk.

The investigation Care, analysis of smart watches for children, conducted by the Norwegian Consumer Council (NCC), determined that in the absence of security of this type of device, strangers can use the camera of the watch to track their movements, take photos and even talk to them.

The experts concluded that these watches, instead of keeping children safe, can make them vulnerable to hackers or criminals.

For this reason, the Federal Network Agency prohibited its sale in Germany for children from five to 12 years old and declared them illegal spying devices.
