Do you have photographic memory?

Eidetic memory or recovery, better known as photographic memory, refers to the ability of an individual who can accurately remember a large number of images, sounds and objects in an unlimited volume, according to elaprendizaje.com

Most scientists, according to psicoblog.com, think that photographic memory is not a special quality of memory, but is due to moments in which the brain process and store the information in a different way than usual, for any reason, making that memory is recorded almost indelibly in our memory.

Most people remember only the important details of a fact and forget the accessories, to save only useful information in our brain .

People with photographic memory, on the other hand, store large amounts of information that is not useful, but represents a burden.

So far it is known that it is more common among children and adolescents and that with age decreases the ability to remember the details; however, eidetic memory has also been described in some cases of autism and Asperger's Syndrome.

The eidetic image is diverse from the rest of the mental images , because the images that most people capture and keep in their memory, usually have different colors from the original and acquire a certain movement in relation to the movements of the eyes with which we scan.

The eidetic image is not voluntarily controlled by the person and can usually be attenuated and disappear involuntarily, piece by piece, so as not to recover any more. It lasts about half a minute or a little longer and to destroy it sometimes it is enough simply to blink.

To know if we are possessors of this rare memory, it is enough to look carefully at a relatively complex image for about 30 seconds. Then, we ask someone to remove it and try to remember as much as possible without separating the view of the place where the image was.

The key in the process of identifying a person with photographic memory is that, although the images are not present, they are able to remember them in all their level of detail, just as if they were looking at it.
