In Mexico, every minute 30 people are diagnosed with some type of cancer and at the end of the day, 222 Mexicans will have lost their battle against the disease, details INational Institute of Cancerology (INCan) .

During the presentation of 1Minuto vs cancer, Francisco González, president of INCan's board of trustees, assures that the campaign is the first phase of a comprehensive concept that seeks prevention, awareness and fundraising for research, teaching and cancer medical care.

Francisco González details that this project is intended to be a vehicle for awareness and prevention to reduce the incidence of the disease in our country, since in Mexico there are more than 120 thousand cases of cancer per year and about 80 thousand deaths per year. suffering.

70% of the cases that are registered in the country can be cured if they are detected in time, so it is important that people inform themselves, remove fear and laziness to approach specialists and take care of their health.

With 1Minuto vs cancer It is intended that Mexicans take a minute to understand the disease in its different forms. It is estimated that this time is enough to self-scan and detect any anomaly.

In addition, the campaign counts on diverse spokesmen like Eugenio Derbez, Ciro Gómez Leyva, Angelique Boyer, Paola Espinosa, Facundo, Alessadra Rosaldo and Miguel Rodarte.

 

Cancer in figures

According to National Institute of Statistic and Geography (INEGI), the highest mortality rate in the country, in the case of women, is breast cancer with 24.3%, followed by cervical cancer 9.7% and colon 3.2%.

On the other hand, in men, 7.9% were concentrated in prostate cancer, bronchial and lung 4.9% and colon 4.6%.

For its part, the World Health Organization (WHO) details that 30% of deaths from cancer are due to five behavioral and dietary risk factors: high body mass index, reduced intake of fruits and vegetables, lack of physical activity, tobacco consumption and alcohol consumption.
