1 in 5 cancer survivors suffer pain


More than 40% of the cancer survivors they experience pain , and the risk increases between black patients Y women , found a new study that will be published in the medical journal Cancer.

 

About 200 American cancer survivors were recruited by researchers at the University of Michigan Health System and found that at least 43% of them experience pain since their diagnosis and 20% suffer from chronic pain related to the condition, for at least two years.

 

The cancer surgery was the most significant pain report among Caucasian patients in 53% of cases. Black patients reported cancer treatment as the most important source of pain with 46%. Among whites and blacks, black patients reported suffering more pain.

 

Experts suggest that poor pain management is the result of the attitude of doctors and patients, as well as the lack of knowledge .
