Demystify weight training!

Weight training is surrounded by myths, which causes many people to prefer other types of exercises to tone and define their body; however, it is an activity that can improve your quality of life.

Demystify weight training!

Myth 1 Weight training makes women acquire too much corpulence. On the contrary, currently, a correct strength training increases the femininity in women; improves the tone and definition of the muscles, resulting in a firmer and more proportionate appearance.

On the other hand, women will never be able to obtain muscle volume like that of men, since they have much lower levels of the male sex hormone, testosterone, which is responsible for the increase in muscle volume.

Myth 2 When training ceases, the muscle will turn into fat. It is totally impossible for the muscle to become fat due to inactivity since both tissues are completely different.

Myth 3 Strength training will cause the muscles to become stiffer, which impairs overall flexibility. It is not true. By increasing muscle mass, the subject does not become more rigid. With modern methods of weight training, flexibility is improved, as long as the muscle is exercised through its ranges of complete movements.

Myth 4 Strength training damages the joints. The opposite is right. When performed properly and safely, strength training improves the strength of the ligaments that hold joint structures together, which makes them more stable and less prone to injury.

Myth 5 If you do not sweat, you do not burn fat. This belief is false because sweat is a mechanism of the body that is related to the ambient temperature: the higher the temperature rises, the more you sweat, but it is not related to fat burning or caloric expenditure.

Myth 6 If you exercise, it does not matter what you eat. Food is a key factor. It does not make sense to train if you do not eat at the same time, enough nutritious, healthy and adequate food.

Myth 7 When you stop exercising, you get fat. On the contrary, since increasing your muscle mass by exercising strength, you burn more calories at rest than a person who has never exercised.

The perfect way to maintain ideal body mass is aerobic exercise combined with strength exercises such as weight training. Remember to eat healthy and what is appropriate. And you, do you know another myth about the subject?
