Conditions of psychological origin

Divorced men are more likely to have heart disease, high blood pressure and strokes than married men, they are also 39% more likely to commit suicide, according to a study by the University of Nebraska, United States.

According to the research published in the journal Journal of Men's Health , divorced men are at greater risk to their health because, initially, they engage or develop high-risk behaviors that harm their health, such as substance abuse.

Conditions of psychological origin

According to him Dr. Daniel Felix, researcher at the University , "Those men whose marriages end, have higher rates of mortality, substance abuse and depression, as they often lack social support.

In this sense, according to the specialist, it is vital that more studies and therapies are started to contain divorced men whose health is compromised, as well as to offer them better alternatives to learn to overcome their "loss".

Among the most frequent ailments, according to the study, have been detected:

1. Stress
2. Anxiety
3. Depression
4. Overweight
5. Liver effects (inflammation and / or accumulation of fat)
6. Sleep problems and lack of rest

About, Ridwan Shabsigh, professor at Cornell University, United States , reiterates that the vast majority of these diseases have a psychological origin, so that divorced men require both therapies and guidance regarding better nutrition, physical activity and rest.

"The fact is that men are significantly affected by psychological trauma and negative life events, such as divorce, bankruptcy, war and mourning, although culturally and socially they have always been considered as strong and less able to express their feelings, which in the end affects their overall health, "says Shabsigh.
