This new treatment known as Vismodegib aims to reduce the size of tumors and eliminate visible lesions in patients with advanced basal cell carcinoma.

Vismodegib is the first molecule that is taken orally to inhibit the signaling pathway Hedgehog, which is involved in more than 90% of cases of this type of skin cancer.

With this new orphan therapy, the aim is to improve the quality of life of patients with advanced basal cell carcinoma, that is, those who, after the surgery, returned to present an injury caused by this type of cancer.
