Ayurveda and digestion

According to Yogi Bhajan you have the right to be and you are what you eat; However, sometimes our digestive system can cause problems, so you should follow tips to improve digestion.

In childhood, we have the option of eating any kind of food, from sweets, irritants, cotton candy, to sweet bread and chocolates.

But over time our digestive capacity decreases, we have two options for good health: take anti-acids or pills to improve digestion or make changes in our diet.

Therefore, with the following tips to improve digestion we will maintain a "healthy digestive fire" (as it is known in Ayurvedic medicine), which will be positively reflected in our state of health in general.

  1. Choose hot and spicy foods.
  2. Eat raw vegetables like arugula and radish.
  3. Avoid dairy products, cajeta, and melted cheeses.
  4. Reduce the consumption of ice and consume hot tea such as ginger or cinnamon.
  5. Get up early and exercise with an aerobic activity.
  6. Practice good breathing.

Ayurveda and digestion

In Ayurvedic medicine, digestive fire is known by the term Agni, which in Sanskrit means "the force that transforms."

The proper functioning of our digestive system (agni), is the key to good health, as it helps us assimilate nutrients, eliminate waste and toxins.

When our digestive fire is in balance, we have vitality, but being weak, leaves toxins (ama) that interfere with the flow of blood, lymph and energy throughout the body, which generates overweight and diseases.

As explained David Frawley , we must create the fire of healing to be well and sustain a positive health and vitality in life. The Agni is the basis of our health. And you, how do you protect your digestive health?
