5 tips vs accidents at Christmas

In this season of holidays and holidays at the end of the year, the risks and probabilities of suffering a road accident or at home increase, for which it is necessary to follow a series of recommendations to prevent even death.

According to data from the Federal Health Secretariat (Ssa) , in December the number of deaths due to injuries caused by car accidents increases by 10 or 15% and Burns , followed by Gastrointestinal disorders for the excessive consumption of food and drinks typical of the season.

Data published by the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), Children and older adults are said to be the most vulnerable groups to suffer, which is why, along with theSecretary , have issued a series of recommendations to the general population to reduce these risks:

1. Avoid the manipulation and use of pyrotechnic games, fires, fires and other devices that generate heat. This is the main cause ofBurns and skin conditions. Children should be kept away from these risks and in case of injury, go to an emergency service and do not use home remedies.

2. If you plan to go on a trip, it is necessary to previously review and maintain the car, prepare a first aid kit . When you leave your home, check and close the gas and water pipes and disconnect the electric current. If possible, ask a neighbor or relative for your home.

3. Given the increase in traffic, do not drive under the influence of drug or alcohol , remember that you should always use the safety belt and for children the infant seat; In the case of motorcyclists, wear a helmet and adequate protection. Avoid driving distractions such as cell phone, television screens and loud music.

4. To reduce the possibility of a mishap in your home, turn off the Christmas lights before sleeping or leaving, do not recharge the electrical connections in a single contact and place your Christmas tree away from heaters, stoves or chimneys.

5. During celebrations and Christmas dinners and end of the year, seeks a moderate consumption of food and alcoholic beverages. Be careful in the preparation of the dishes and in the use of kitchen utensils. Do not overdo fat, sweet and irritating like spicy. Do some type of physical activity such as walking and constantly monitoring children and seniors.
