How much fiber should dad eat?

East Father's day concentrate all our efforts in pampering dad, preparing his favorite food, inviting him to the movies or the theater, demonstrating all day our love, but how to take care of it the rest of the year? The key is in a change of habits.

To help dad feel healthier, more energetic and prevent him from suffering from any illness, we suggest some changes in habits and nutrition, ideal to start on this special date, to prevent cardiovascular diseases, responsible for 10 of each 100 deaths in men in our country.

In a study where the effect of fiber consumption was evaluated, it was observed that people who consumed more, had lower levels of glucose, total cholesterol and C-Reactive protein in blood, which represents a lower risk of cardiovascular diseases.

The fiber recommendation for dad (adults) in Mexico is 30 g daily, and preferably you have to choose different sources:

1. Include a portion of fruits or vegetables in each meal. Try to have these foods always at hand and ready to be consumed. It is likely that dad does not like the taste of fruits or vegetables so it would be good to plan dishes that include them.

2. Choose cereals (cookies, pasta, breads, cereal for breakfast) containing fiber - prefers those with at least 2.5 g per serving. Wheat bran fiber has been found to be the best within cereals for digestive regularity.

3. Consume legumes At least 2 times per week, these foods are rich in fiber and protein of vegetable origin.

4. Oilseeds like peanuts or nuts, in addition to providing good fats (omega 3) are also a good source.

5. Drink more water. It is important to remember that when increasing fiber consumption we must also increase water consumption.

Finally, do not forget the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle. Plan with dad an exercise routine that you can perform on a daily basis and stay motivated to do physical activity as a family.

Now you know, not only celebrate that special person in the Father's day , always take care of it with a healthier diet and lifestyle. For more information: www.allbran.com.mx
