One of the biggest complications of child cancer is that it can not be prevented, that's why the early detection it is the main key to saving the lives of children who suffer from it.

Be attentive to fevers that appear without any logical explanation, lumps, nosebleeds, frequent headaches and fainting that the child may present, is vital to detect timely, says Pilar Rodríguez , general manager of the Friends of the Child Foundation with Cancer .

"Cancer requires perseverance, treatment and a lot of attention with early detection, so it can be cured," said Rodríguez.

Teamwork

The Friends of the Child Foundation with Cancer was born 30 years ago with the JM de los Ríos Hospital , and attends between 100 and 1100 cases of child cancer annually, reveals Rodríguez.

Among the services it provides are the supply of antineoplastic medicines , special exams both diagnostic and control, a hostel for those who come from the interior of the country, catheters and needles.

"As well as a management program to help them find resources when it comes to something that the foundation can not solve. We must remember that cancer does not have waiting time ", adds the expert.

The program "Drops of help" of the foundation has this name because in the organization many resources are needed to be able to solve the needs that the small ones bring. Awareness should be created about what a child with Cancer : support from the whole society.
