Reported case of bird flu in Hong Kong

Health authorities of Hong Kong confirmed this Thursday November 18, 2010, the first case of bird flu in the country . What is more relevant, since no indication of this disease was reported for seven years.

 

This new case was presented in a 59 year old woman upon his return from a visit to mainland China . It is still unknown if the virus was contracted in Hong Kong or outside the territory. So we are paying attention to all the people who might have been in contact with her.

 

In addition, although her 60-year-old husband had developed symptoms similar to those of bird flu , it has already recovered.

 

In Hong Kong there is a high risk of contracting the disease In the region, the alert changed to a "serious" term and a hotline for citizenship of the locality was opened.

 

The last case in the region was registered in 2003. The first cases of bird flu in humans with the H5N1 strain were diagnosed in 1997 in Hong Kong
