Less anxiety, better grades

Students can lessen the anxiety of an exam and get better ratings if they put in writing their worries before starting an exam, says a study from the University of Chicago, United States.

The experts showed that if the students put in writing their fears before taking an exam, they reduce their anxiety and left their brain free to face the test successfully, obtaining better grades than those who do not.

According to the psychologist Sian Beilock , leader of the research, the pressure affects a function of our brain called "work memory ", which is decisive in tasks of daily life as it allows us to retrieve relevant information to carry out the activity we desire.

"Even though people are usually motivated to give their best, situations loaded with pressure, such as exams or important presentations, make these people perform under their capabilities ", Said Beilock, who published his results in the magazine Science
