Lead risks in Christmas series

45% of the Christmas series tested in the U.S. contain more lead of the allowed in the children's products , publish Ecology Center, a non-profit organization based in the state of Michigan and www.healthystuff.org.

Researchers tested more than 7 thousand products of Christmas lights in the last 4 years and found that 4 out of 5 series containlead. The study shows that 28% of the series that are sold they surpass approved lead levels in Europe.

"Some brands manage to make lights unleaded. So, why are we allowing products that contain it to be sold? We've known for decades that lead it poisons the brain , but they continue to use it, "said the director of the organization Jeff Gearhart

The results can be found at www.healthystuff.org, which allows users to find products by brand, manufacturer and product type.

The study tested the chemical based on their toxicity , persistence and tendency of roots in people and the environment. These chemicals have been associated with reproductive problems , of developing, of learning , toxicity in the liver and Cancer .

"The last thing that families want during the festivities is to worry about exposing your children to Toxic products for decorating a Christmas tree . Both manufacturers and the government should do a better job of regulating the chemical of these products, "Gearhart said.
