What is the induced coma?

Through this mechanism, the patient is sedated to reduce their oxygen and energy consumption, with the purpose of putting the brain to "sleep".

With the induced coma it is sought to protect the brain of the patient, to give the body time to recover. In this state the organ needs less blood, oxygen and glucose.

According to theGerman Clinic of Intensive Care of the EU , the induced coma is applied "for the patient to get used to, a mechanical ventilation that will last longer than usual, or because it is necessary not to consume a lot of oxygen, not to move or cough".

Induced coma is necessary when there is an increase inintracranial pressure which can be caused by a wound in the brain, an infection, a tumor or a blow as was the case with Bobbi Kristina.

The young woman was born in March 1993 in Livingston, New Jersey and her mother always said about the girl: "She brings me a lot of joy".
