He went for a liposuction and came out with a leg amputated

Mariela Anaya, a 31-year-old Argentinean girl, never imagined the 'cost' of having a liposuction.

Some time ago I wanted to do a lipo so I searched the internet for surgeons and I found a doctor who offered me a promo for my birthday: in addition to removing my belly fat I put the surplus in the tail. Everything cost me 30 thousand pesos.

I left the operating room very swollen, but the doctor told me it was normal. Already in my house, the pain became unbearable. I could not walk and I was flying fever. I sent WhatsApp to the doctor, I told him I could not take it anymore. But he did not answer me so I called an ambulance.

Mariela suffered a generalized infection. He spent 10 days in an induced coma in the Churruca Hospital and left there without part of his right leg.

They amputated me from the knee down, was that or die, "says Mariela, who is now learning to walk with a prosthesis.

 

What is a liposuction?

According to the National Library of Medicine of the United States, liposuction aims to eliminate fat deposits; specifically on glutes, hips, thighs, knees and ankles.

Types of liposuction

1. Traditional: Cannulas are used for the extraction of fat.

2. Laser: A small device emitted by a laser is used that produces a burn in the fat and then a cannula is used.

3. Ultrasonic: A device is used that at the tip of the cannula produces a movement that when in contact with the liquid produces a physical phenomenon called cavitation and this in turn degrades the fat.

Basic care

1. Total rest during the first 24 hours after the intervention.

2. You must not do extreme activity for 6 weeks.

3. The first day after the operation you must perform a liquid diet.

4. Use postoperative garments all day except when bathing.

5. Do not take aspirin or alcohol for 3 weeks after surgery.

6. You can have a fever the first 48 hours after surgery.

7. Take the prescribed medications.
