They discover hormone that triggers prostate cancer

In a breakthrough in the fight against prostate cancer , scientists have been able to identify the responsible hormones of a change in the genes that results in prostate cancer status. This discovery could help specialists better understand this Cancer and thus help in the search for a remedy for this dreaded disease.

The study examined the relationship between androgen hormones with the genes , since the mutation of the latter are observed in many people suffering from cancer. It was found that the DNA of the people had merged together after the exposure to androgens .

The study, carried out by scientists from the Queen Mary University of London, concluded that the fusion of different genes promotes the growth of Cancer in people. In addition, gene fusions are responsible for causing cancer in the population through the gene TMPRSS2: ERG which is the most common among the sick.

The research work in the study appears in the publication Cancer Research. When talking about the study's finding, the Dr. Yong-Lu Jie , one of the authors of the article, stated that: "the finding is very important and would also help more to find a cure for the condition".
