Symptoms of insulin resistance

We often believe that insulin resistance and diabetes are the same, but the truth is that it is not. In the first, the body does not respond to the hormone that converts glucose into energy; On the other hand, in the second case, the organism stops producing said hormone.

 

Symptoms of insulin resistance

Although in some people this disorder can be asymptomatic, in others its symptoms are clear; here some of them with information from theAmerican Diabetes Association.  

 

  1. Constant thirst
  2. Greater number of urinations (urinates more frequently)
  3. The desire to eat foods high in sugars or processed (bread) increases
  4. Fatigue
  5. Weight gain
  6. Change in the pigmentation of the skin (especially in the neck and elbows)
  7. Cardiovascular disorders (varicose veins)
  8. Excessive hair (specifically on the back and abdomen)

It is important that before the detection of one or more symptoms, you go immediately to a doctor; this to avoid the possibility of developing another disease: diabetes or hypertension.

However, and unlike other conditions, insulin resistance can be controlled by decreasing caloric intake (avoids sweet drinks), and increasing physical activity (30 minutes of exercise per day).
