Micronutrients in AIDS

Just as macronutrients are important in humans, especially when you have a disease such as HIV, micronutrients are also necessary for the well-being of the patient.

Micronutrients are the substances that the body needs in small doses, but they are indispensable for the different biochemical and metabolic processes. We find them mainly in vitamins and minerals.

HIV Panorama

According to WHO, a large number of adults and children infected with HIV suffer from micronutrient deficiencies.

Therefore, the international health agency recommends that patients with HIV have a diversified diet, fortified foods and, if necessary, vitamin supplements.

Say yes to vitamins

According to a study by the School of Public Health at Harvard University, a daily tablet of multivitamins can slow the evolution of the AIDS virus and allow doctors to delay treatment for the deadly disease.

It has been proven that B vitamins, along with C and E, can also reduce the symptoms of the disease, including fatigue, nausea, vomiting, swallowing difficulties and digestive problems.

In fact, the WHO maintains its recommendation to people living with HIV AIDS to have an optimal intake of Vitamin A, B, zinc and iron to strengthen the immune system of patients.
