They change fireplaces for ecological stoves

Millions of homes throughout the Mexican republic they still use firewood stoves to cook your food. This implies that women and children, mainly, are exposed to suffering from respiratory diseases as: pneumonia, bronchitis, tuberculosis and lung cancer. This phenomenon is exacerbated in the regions with the greatest marginality in the country.

Because of this, the Ministry of Social Development (Sedesol) launched a program that aims to replace the bulk of these wood stoves by ecological stoves . The agency intends to distribute 500 thousand of these saving stoves, in the most marginal regions of Mexico. The goal of Sedesol for 2012 is to reach 500 thousand wood-burning stoves throughout the country, through the Program for the Development of Priority Zones.

But besides being a good for the Health of the inhabitants of these regions, is beneficial to the environment can have an important importance. With the replacement of the stoves would avoid the consumption of almost 700 tons of firewood and the felling of around 3.5 million trees year; without mentioning the impact that, if this trend continues, it could have climate change .
