States on alert!

Dengue in Mexico has grown by 60% and there have been 33 deaths in the last semester, according to the weekly report of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control (Cenaprece) .

The Cenaprece highlights that until August 5 there are 4 thousand 875 confirmed cases of hemorrhagic fever and 13 thousand 070 with only fever, which gives a total of 17 thousand 945 people infected with dengue.

With this, the institution details that with regard to the cases of the same period in 2012, there have been an increase of 52% in probable cases and 60% in confirmed cases.

 

States on alert!

The Cenaprece ensures that about 60% of the country has the conditions to promote the spread of diseases transmitted by vectors (mosquitoes) as is the case Dengue.

However, the states with the highest number of cases are Tabasco, with 3,308 patients; Tamaulipas, with two thousand 331; Veracruz, with 1,786; Chiapas, with thousand 270; Guerrero, with one thousand 250; Quintana Roo, with 979; Morelos, 954; Nuevo León, with 895; Colima, with 695; and Michoacán, with 645 people infected.

In the case of the incidence of dengue fever, the institution states that it occurs in 55% of women and 45% of men; while in dengue hemorrhagic fever it is similar for both genders.

Dengue in Mexico is generated by the habits of people, the lack of basic services such as water, garbage collection and waste, that is, this environment favors the development of the transmitting mosquito called Aedes aegypti.

Therefore, to avoid it, doors and windows should be covered with mosquito nets without holes, to sweep the whole house, to clean the closets and under the bed, to avoid the accumulation of garbage, water and shrubs.
