Leaving the cigar can be related to brain activity

The activity of brain can help assess the determination with which a smoker can stop smoking, according to a study developed by American researchers who observed a region of the Cortex linked to behavior modifications .

The study published in the magazine Health Sychology, was carried out with 28 smokers who joined in a program to quit smoking. The participants observed messages for give up smoking while a tomograph registered the activity of his brain.

After each message "they noted how it had influenced their project to quit and had reinforced their decision".

"The exciting thing is that knowing what happens in someone's brain ... we can predict much better their behavior than if we only knew their self-evaluation" about the possibilities of quitting, he said. Emily Falk, principal author of the study at the University of Michigan.
