HIV-AIDS implies high economic costs

Thanks to the advances of science in pharmacological research and specifically about the human immunodeficiency virus, currently, patients with HIV AIDS they have a greater perspective of life. Specialists say that, unlike other decades ago, once an individual has contracted the virus, it can even live between 20 and 30 years, with goodquality of life (Obviously this decreases if the patient does not take care of himself).

Unfortunately, this treatment still results very expensive and the supply represents a strong detriment to the economy of the countries, especially those in which the poverty rates are very high.

According to data provided by the Health Secretary In Mexico, each patient who is treated for this disease generates an annual cost of 300 thousand pesos approximately, so by multiplying this amount by the number of patients in the national territory the amount is exorbitant.

Although the care of these patients is necessary, it is necessary to place greater emphasis on prevention . Proof of the success of this measure is the decrease in the number of infections Y deaths that has been registered in the last 5 years. Despite this, it is worth continuing the joint efforts between government and citizens.
