Beware of noise!

At present, millions of people are exposed to our hearing system is damaged, thanks to the multiple sound waves that our ears perceive. It is estimated that 20% of the population of each country is coexisting with noise levels that exceed those adequate for human health.

A report made by the Ecology and Development Foundation (ECODES) , which was presented in Madrid Spain, indicates that noise pollution has become one of the main environmental problems.

Beware of noise!

Some of the statistics that are known worldwide are that Spain is the second noisiest country in the world, followed by Japan. Some of the ways in which noise affects our health are the following.

1. Hearing loss. It has been proven that continuous exposure to high noise levels is directly related to hearing loss. 5 and 10% of people who usually listen to music with headphones can anticipate the appearance of hearing problems 20 years, showing typical disorders of people of 60 years and 40 years.

2. Get rid of sleep. During the night lower noise levels are marked, over 30dB, to ensure the silence so necessary for rest. However, many times these levels are exceeded by traffic in cities. If the noise does not let us sleep, the cycles and the depth of sleep are altered, and rest decreases, causing laziness and depressed mood.

3. Cardiac. Who wants to take care of their heart should protect themselves from noise, high levels of noise cause our body to react activating nervous hormone responses and causing an increase in blood pressure, heart rate, vasoconstriction and blood becomes thicker, also causing changes in the endocrine and nervous system that affect the circulatory system contracting cardiovascular diseases.

4. Altera. The noise pollution in our environment is an environmental factor that bothers us and harms our well-being. It affects our capacity for attention, it generates stress, nervousness or irritability, it can also cause learning disorders of memory, decreases motivation, and increases irritability and aggression.

Children are more vulnerable ...

Children are more vulnerable than adults to the effects of noise. Those who live in noisy homes tend to have less cognitive development, language and have worse reading comprehension, also suffering from attention and memory deficits.

The noise affects from before birth. Living in a noisy environment can affect the health of the fetus and even the newborn, causing hearing loss or growth retardation, if the mother has been exposed to chronic noise during pregnancy.

Remember that to have a healthy life, it is necessary to change some habits so that our well-being is appreciated.
