Your brain shrinks ...

The reasons can be diverse: a job interview, a party or, simply, to know a new place in the city. Everything leads us to use the GPS to find an address. Whether through the computer or the cell phone, the influence of it goes beyond orienting, it also alters the anatomy of the brain, shrinks it.

According to a study conducted by the MacGill University, in Montreal (Canada) , using digital maps and GPS systems every time you move from one place to another could cause a decrease in the size of your brain and your orientation skills.

For the scientist Richard Dawkins This is because the drawing of maps could have been the decisive stimulus for the anatomy of the brain to change, grow and develop capacities that would allow it to overcome obstacles, which left behind other apes.

Using magnetic resonance imaging, the study authors compared the brain anatomy of subjects accustomed to using satellite navigation devices with that of individuals who do not use them, such as taxi drivers.

As a result, it was discovered that the latter showed an expansion of the hippocampus area, which serves as a motor to develop a better perspective of the surrounding environment and the increase in the ability to remember reference points.

However, and despite the fact that this discovery shows an evolutionary regression in the anatomy of the brain, it is difficult to stop using GPS or Google Map, since no one likes to be lost or ... what do you think?
