Narcotics Anonymous: treatment center

Compared to previous years, there are now more treatment options for people addicted to drugs. In most cities there are public health services and rehabilitation centers .

There are also a large number of self-help groups that offer assistance , one of them is Narcotics Anonymous. This voluntary organization was created primarily to help people addicted to drugs stop or change their habits. It should not be difficult to find a Narcotics Anonymous center in your city. You can check the community service pages at the beginning of the phone book.

It is a great relief that there are so many organizations that help addicts live a relatively normal life during their treatment. Narcotics Anonymous is a supported support group in the Alcoholics Anonymous model , the organization created to help the recovery of alcoholics.

Many addicts fear the effect of Withdrawal syndromes ; they seek help only when they fall ill or encounter the law. They often seek help when they can not get their regular dose of drugs. This makes them fall back. While their cooperation is important for the success of treatment, adequate therapy, support and rehabilitation mechanisms are also important. This is exactly the reason why Narcotics Anonymous was created.

About the help program

While there is no 100% sure method to help addicts, the Narcotics Anonymous program is specifically designed to treat dependents to heroin, marijuana, or other drugs. In fact, many patients prefer to have their treatment in these organizations, because the cost is much lower than in some hospitals.

The organization's programs include intensive therapies and daily readings for a certain number of weeks. However, a week of hospitalization may be required for severe and chronic addicts. It is necessary for the detoxification and treatment of side effects. Usually another four-week stay in a separate rehabilitation center follows the hospital treatment.

After following the treatment as an internal or external patient, they are recommended to participate in programs established by Narcotics Anonymous on a long-term basis. The reason is that receiving therapeutic treatment with peers has been proven as the best way to control the tendency to relapse in the use of drugs.

Narcotics Anonymous also has relationships with rehabilitation centers where people with addictions can occupy a temporary residence while receiving therapy. These rehabilitation centers are specifically designed to facilitate readjustments in the patient's private life. While they are in rehabilitation, they might even have a part-time job.
