How does the dream work on our ability to drive?

Excessive speed, consumption of alcohol or drugs and lack of road culture, are the only causes? In Mexico, 16,000 people die each year from car accidents, one third of this figure is between 15 and 19 years old, according to the National Council for the Prevention of Accidents (Conapra), same that indicates that the dream is a factor that influences and increases the possibility of losing the life in a car.

Distance = less sleep

For Julia Santin Martínez Assistant Professor, Department of Neurology, School of Medicine, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile , the degree of vigilance is not even throughout the day and, during it, human beings are prone to sleep especially in two periods: between 2 and 6 in the morning and between 2 and 4 in the afternoon, the period of the NAP. Therefore drowsiness not only depends on the time the person has not slept (sleep load ") but also an intrinsic rhythm of the sleep cycle.

A unique problem in Mexico, and can it be prevented?

According to the Conapra , Mexico is among the countries with the most car accidents among which are: India, China, United States, Russian Federation, Indonesia, South Africa, Brazil and Spain. This last figure of the European Sleep Society indicates that 20% to 30% of the seats are related to sleep.

For this reason, Spanish Dream Society recommends the following to prevent sleep-related accidents:

1. Plan your trips, respecting the maximum sleep hours. Avoid driving at night continuously.
 

2. For every two hours and rest.
 

3. If you start yawning repeatedly or notes that your eyes are closed, stop immediately.
