How does it act?

"You care too much what they will say" ... We spend our lives with the faithful idea that the less interest we show in the opinion of others, the happier we will be. However, the environment could provide the self-confidence needed to achieve success; this is called Pygmalion effect.

What one person expects from another may come to serve as a self-fulfilling prophecy. That is, the Pygmalion Effect is one in which an image of authority (teacher, boss or father) expresses high expectations about the person who is under its influence. Becoming an incentive to achieve success ", as described by Center for American Progress.

How does it act?

According to social psychologist Robert Rosenthal, The Pygmalion Effect generates changes in the environment that favors the existence of people. Some of these are the following.

1. Create a warmer and more empathetic "social-emotional climate". This through nonverbal cues such as grunts, smiles and caresses as touching the shoulder in an encouraging way.

2. They take you to your intellectual limit! Not in the form of wear but by knowledge. A dynamic of learning and growing is formed.

3. There is no failure. An environment is structured in which there is always "something else to do"; where there is an opportunity to do it again, much better than the first attempt.

4. People with authority, provides their "special" subordinate with more specialized comments and positive about his work.

It can be difficult to deliberately change our expectations of others. But we can consciously change our behavior. Remember, you have the power and ability to achieve your goals.
