Breast size influence breast cancer

Do you think that breast size is important? According to a study by the American company 23andMe , published in the BMC Medical Genetic magazine, there is a link between the size of the bra and the breast cancer .

The results of the research are the first genetic evidence of the link between breast size and the risk of suffering breast cancer . To achieve this, the genetic data of 16,175 women of European origin were analyzed and they carried out a record of the size of the bra they used.

After taking into account age, genetic background, breast surgeries, history of breastfeeding and pregnancies , seven variants were found, or polymorphisms of a single nucleotide (SNP), linked to the size of the breasts. And three of these SNPs were known factors linked to the risk of breast cancer.

The doctor Nicholas Eriksson, study director , ensures that some of the genetic variations underlie both normal breast growth and this type of disease.

It is known that one of the variants regulates the expression of the estrogen receptor gene that plays a vital role in the growth of the mammary glands and in most cases of this type of cancer. "

Regardless of the size of each woman's breast, breast cancer develops for different reasons, so it is important to perform a self-examination to detect it in time and prevent a mastectomy.

We are all exposed. Remember that preventing is living.
