4 different stages and symptoms of lymphoma

The cancer that is known as lymphoma can be clearly understood through the process of staging. This refers to how the disease is classified, what it is and what parts of the body it has affected.

There are four parts or stages of the disease after the patient has been diagnosed through a series of tests and scans.

To give you an idea about the different stages, here are the basic points about each phase:

Stage one

At this stage, the disease is only present in a group of lymph nodes. There are also cases in which the disease is in an organ, which is not part of the lymphatic system, but this type of cases is very rare.

Stage two

The cancer is now seen in two or more groups of lymph nodes that are located on the sides of the diaphragm, under the lungs and helps a person to breathe easily, also separates the chest area from the abdomen.

The third phase

Cancer at this stage can be found in the lymph nodes that are located on both sides of the diaphragm. There are some cases in which adjacent organs are involved. Also, when the disease is observed in the spleen.

Fourth and last stage

This is the terminal stage when the lung is already affected, as well as the bone marrow, liver and other organs that are far from the initially infected parts.

There are many other factors that can affect the results of treatments that are performed with people who suffer from the disease, such as the age of the patient and the stage of the disease.

If you are in an advanced stage, you should not lose hope because there are many cases that have healed in the end, even after suffering from the most advanced stages.

From the first symptoms or when you are starting to feel that something is wrong, do not hesitate and consult a doctor. To help you determine if the symptoms are related to the disease, here are some of the most common:

The most important are the lumps in your neck, groin and armpits. These are painless, so there are many people who do not realize it easily and are slow to go to the doctor.

The other symptoms that you may experience, once the lymph nodes increase in size, are loss of appetite, weight loss, weakness, fever, excessive sweating, especially at night and itching.
