12 tips to combat the risks of cold

Due to the winter season, the risks to the health of the population and the effects associated with exposure to low environmental temperatures .

In this sense, the Federal Health Secretariat (Ssa) strengthens actions of epidemiological surveillance , Health promotion, vaccination and medical attention of the population, with emphasis on the states and municipalities that usually have deaths due to these causes.

Since the beginning of the cold season 2010-2011, on October 21, to November 24 of this year, there were two deaths associated with the season, due to poisoning by carbon monoxide , which occurred in Saltillo, Coahuila.

To avoid risks to your health, it is recommended that you follow the following actions:

  1. Stay warm and avoid sudden changes of temperature .
  2. Cover your mouth and nose with scarf to not breathe cold air.
  3. Consume plenty of fluids, fruits Y vegetables with vitamins A and C .
  4. Wash hands frequently.
  5. Avoid exposure to environmental contaminants.
  6. No smoking indoors and near children, the elderly and sick people.
  7. Use cream to protect the cold skin .
  8. Attend the Civil Protection recommendations.
  9. Look out constantly ornaments , lights and electrical installations that can generate fires .
  10. Prevent minors and older adults from manipulating hot liquids .
  11. Blow candels , braceros and lighters before sleep.
  12. Do not you automediques ! In case of any discomfort, go to your doctor and avoid further complications.
